Brian Carroll | Monday 7.18 & Wednesday 7.20 Training |

Check out part 1 of the Documentary “this is 10/20/life”

I just finished 3 meets in 3 months and I’m now taking downtime to recover, rest and work on weak points. I did hit PR Total, 2651, PR squat 1102 and a PR bench 788 all at 242.

I started a Keto diet with Danny Vega to help 1. lean up some 2. get my BW DOWN to the 250 range 3. to reduce some inflammation in my body from the long run 4. to test it out/switch it up and see how it goes since I don’t have a meet immediately. 5. help Danny experiment with powerlifters and strength on a low carb super high fat diet. So far, I like it.

Monday was once again a fluff and buff type day. Again, I’m staying true to my 2 months off with no true spine loading after about 6 months of high octane training. I had a plan that I was going to initiate but with travel and such, I decided that this was a good time to back off, and to implement this plan and attack weakpoints after taking 10 down weeks.

Like I’ve mentioned before, it’s not any easy thing to watch your teammates pushing forward to a meet and you fluffn & buffn but it’s part of longevity. I’ve been doing this for a long time – I know when I come back the first 5 weeks will suck, but that’s part of the process.

Normal Warm-up
– Shoulder band dislocation
– Stir the pot/ band fly
– Flat DB press: 6×10 – up and down the rack
– Incline DB press: 4×10 – up the rack
– Band fly: 3×15
– band skull: 3×15
– DB skull: 3×10
– Bench dip: 3×12
– DB fly

Helped the guys getting ready for the meet and got my work in and went home! Good training day. Byrd looks strong.

Wed – Hot as crap in the gym. Squat/DL assistance
-normal warm-up
– Lat pull-down: 3×10
– 1-arm DB row: 3×8
– DB shrug: 3×10
– Shoulder dislocation: 3×10
– Arnold curls: 3×10
– 1-leg GM: 3×8
– Split squat: 3×10
– band fly: 3×15
– Rear delt band work: 3×10

That’s it. Starting to get ready mentally to start going heavier by the day but sticking to the plan. Lots of other things (*good) going on right now that deserve my attention.

This song reminds me of being 16 and training alone in the local powerhouse. 1997 is when I joined my first gym and really got serious about lifting weights (outside of my garage and HS gym class). This song came out in 97 as well, so it brings me back. Hard to believe it’s been about 20 years. This is my favorite song of all time for those reasons.
