Brian Carroll | Offseason – Wed, Sat training |

Check out part 1 of the Documentary “this is 10/20/life”

I just finished 3 meets in 3 months and I’m now taking downtime to recover, rest and work on weak points. I did hit PR Total, 2651, PR squat 1102 and a PR bench 788 all at 242.

I started a Keto diet with Danny Vega to help 1. lean up some 2. get my BW DOWN to the 250 range 3. to reduce some inflammation in my body from the long run 4. to test it out/switch it up and see how it goes since I don’t have a meet immediately. 5. help Danny experiment with powerlifters and strength on a low carb super high fat diet. So far, I like it.

Training has still be consistent but consistently light, with minimal spinal loading.

Last Wednesday’s session… Felt pretty good

Normal Warm-up

Lat pull-down: 5 sets of 10
1-arm DB row: 3×10
Barbell shrug: 3×10
BW squat: lots
Standing Calf 1-leg raise: 3×20
Split squat: 3×10
Stir the pot: 100

And Saturday’s session –
Usual warm-up..
Pause goblet squat: 5×5
1-leg GM: 3×8
Band pull-aparts
Band shoulder dislocation
Lot’s of other stuff…. mainly helping others in the gym

Great training session. Byrd and Lisa are getting ready for the RPS meet in SF, and Shane is prepping for the APF in JAX. I’m slowly turning things back up, but I have enjoyed not having to push hard 100%.

Yesterday was our 6yr wedding anniversary, so I broke my diet a little bit and had some carbs. I didn’t feel too bad physically eating them, but I didn’t really miss them. I’m back at it now and feeling great still.

Body is feeling as good as possible with a lifting age of 55. I slept on my neck wrong a week ago and I still feel a bit off with some cervical and thoracic tightness, but other than that, I feel good. Nothing really hurts or causes me pain that I even notice. Taking time off like this helps keep me going.
