13 Jul Brian Carroll | Update with plans | Diet and Training Update
Check out part 1 of the Documentary “this is 10/20/life”
I just finished 3 meets in 3 months and I’m now taking downtime to recover, rest and work on weak points. I did hit PR Total, 2651, PR squat 1102 and a PR bench 788 all at 242.
I started a Keto diet with Danny Vega to help 1. lean up some 2. get my BW DOWN to the 250 range 3. to reduce some inflammation in my body from the long run 4. to test it out/switch it up and see how it goes since I don’t have a meet immediately. 5. help Danny experiment with powerlifters and strength on a low carb super high fat diet. So far, I like it.
New shirt loaded up in the shop (as seen in featured pic) in 3 different colors!

Huge thanks to Captain Jacked.com and Inzer Advance Designs for supporting my lifting!

NEWS
I have pretty much made the decision to go single ply after I finish what I want to do in MP. This will be sooner than later. I have already discussed with Casey Willams, Daniel Dalenberg and Greg Panora to meet me somewhere at go off of wilks of schwartz RPS rules, single ply with a Mono. This will take place next year around this time, as a guess.
Diet is going great. As many know and Danny would tell anyone that asks, this high fat, moderate protein and ultra low carb approach is SUPER easy to follow while traveling and doesn’t make you order off the ‘skinny menu’ since everything is cooked in fat so it tastes good. Carbs are much more obvious to detect ie sauces (think even remotely sweet) than fats (added to all things to taste better even veggies) are in most cases. Easy adjustment when traveling.
I will start posting some pics from time to time.
BW started at 267 on 7/1, today – 7/12 I’m at 257. I have NOT been following 100% keto, but most days my carbs are only incidental. I have not been perfect either but I’ve already changed my approach to food and I really like this.
Bummer is no sauces, sushi rolls, rice or bread.. Good news is all the sashimi, avocado, soy sauce that I want. Give and take, but I like this.
What do I do when I start prepping for a meet and training heavy again? I’m not sure, I’ll see how I feel starting off eating this way and go from there. I’m quite sure I’ll add in carbs at some point the day before heavy training days as I will on post weighin days BUT this remains to be seen how exactly.
Either way, I want to state this publicly – I will let Danny handle my diet and choices of food at this point on, for good – to keep me accountable and we will figure out the details of the macros. Either way, I’m glad I committed July to this approach. Thank you DV.
Training has been fluff and buff type sessions all the time. Not going to lie, I don’t like it that much on one end, but the other I love being out of prep and not having to hard. Here’s an example of a day for you –
Normal warm-up
Stir the pot
DB presses
Bench dips
Side laterals
One Leg KB GM
Goblet squats
Band fly and pressdown
etc
Nothing heavy at all. I’m doing this to ensure that I’m healing up as much as I can without getting too fat or small. I’m still working my weak points but my training cycle hasn’t quite been all I wanted, but I’m changing that and making up more ground in my diet and walking often. Also, I’m cleaning out supplements down to the bare minimum that I get from the Dr. and planning my next move.
