Brian Carroll | Week 1 day 1 squat/DL & Day 2 bench | Offseason

[wa-wps]

LOTS of tees $9.99 and under!

Currently taking it easy and will be picking out a meet around spring time. Until then I’ll be healing up and helping my team get ready for the XPC. I think we will have a very good showing at this meet.

OK, recovered pretty much from the stupid cold that I had that followed the nasty staph infection. Such is life but I’m ready to train and give Byrd and Co a nice push toward the XPC meet. I have no desire to do a meet for a bit since I pushed pretty much all of 2016.

The purpose of Saturday was to knock off some rust and get back under the bar after 5 weeks of down time. Hard to believe right? I took my last squat at the start of December and it’s now almost Mid-Jan. Insane how fast time is flying by now.

Normal 10/20/Life Warm-up
a. KB swing
b. McGill 3
c. Goblet squat
d. Empty bar for reps

Squat:
335×1 – 5 singles

Deadlift:
335×1 – 5 singles

One Leg GM: 3×10
Leg Press: 3×10
Stir the pot: one set all out

Actually didn’t feel quite as bad as I expected really. This was a session to just get some work done without paralyzing myself with soreness. Job well done. Grooves actually felt pretty good. Looking forward to pushing things more over the next couple of months.

Monday – bench
320x2x2
2bd press: 370 2×2, 410 2×2

Incline DB press: 3×10
Bench dip: 3×10
Modified skull: 6×10
Band press-down SS Hex holds: 3 rounds

Really worked the set-up and form Monday on the bench. This felt good and pretty snappy considering. I went quite a bit heavier on the bench in comparison to the squat/DL but this would be because I’ve actually benched a little bit whereas I have not done much squatting or pulling of any sort.

Glad to be back training and feeling somewhat normal.

Thanks for the support, Happy New Year!
