Brian Carroll – Week 1 Offseason

I’m not training for anything in particular right now. I just finished competing at the XPC Arnold Finals 3/07 2015 where I totaled 2610@242 and won the overall. I did not achieve ALL of my goals but I’m still happy with the results, not content.

See all these 10/20/Life t-shirts and hoodies in picture above? You can order them HERE

I’m about ready to get back to training, and a steady diet that does NOT consist of all junk good. Almost ready.

My plan for this spring and summer is to continue to get my BW down, lean up and attack my weak-points and stay healthy. I want to be 255 or less going forward for my pre-contest work, as I don’t want to cut 20lb or more anymore and want to be healthier overall and just feel better. The closer I get to 250, the better I feel.

I will be getting my blood work done in early April and will post the results in my log, so stay tuned for that. With the diet, the cutting and the hard training over the last year, we will both see how healthy/sick I am!

This spring, summer, AND fall, Team PRS will be covering a good bit of the United States doing SEMINARS AND CLINICS so make sure to check our schedule to see if I’ll be near you! If you are interested in having out team come to you, contact me here: briancarroll.lmt@gmail.com.

Wed training:

Normal Warm-up
Mcgill Chins: 15
DB shrug: 3×15
Hammer Curl: 3×15
KB swing: 3×15
Birddog: lots
One Leg GM: 3×15

DONE – nice and easy.

More of a fluff and buff type training session, boring, but it’s what I’m doing now. I’m going to continue to ease back into a normal program over the next couple of weeks.

Diet is getting better and more consistent. I’ve always binged quite a bit after a meet with bad food and given training the backseat. This time is no different, I just happen to have more eyes on me now.

I’m starting to get the itch to get everything in order as far as training, diet and supplementation. I don’t do any of it until I’m ready to. I even drank a protein shake last night after training!

As always thank you to Chad at Fitmealsjax for all of his support with my nutrition – it makes life so much easier!

Brian is a retired world-class powerlifter with over two decades of world-class powerlifting. From 1999 to 2020, Brian Carroll was a competitive powerlifter, one of the most accomplished lifters in the sport's history. Brian started off competing in bench press competitions 'raw,' then, shortly into the journey, he gravitated toward equipped lifting as there were no "raw" categories then. You only had to choose from single-ply (USPF) and Multi-ply (APF/WPC). Brian went on to total 2730 at 275 and 2651 at 242 with more than ten times his body weight in three different classes (220, 242, 275), and both bench pressed and deadlifted over 800 pounds in two other weight classes. He's totaled 2600 over 20 times in 2 different weight classes in his career. With 60 squats of 1000lbs or more officially, this is the most in powerlifting history, regardless of weight class or federation, by anyone not named David Hoff. Brian realized many ups and downs during his 20+ years competing. After ten years of high-level powerlifting competition and an all-time World Record squat at 220 with 1030, in 2009, Brian was competing for a Police academy scholarship. On a hot and humid July morning, Brian, hurdling over a barricade at 275lbs, landed on, fell, and hurt his back. After years of back pain and failed therapy, Brian met with world-renowned back specialist Prof McGill in 2013, which changed his trajectory more than he could have imagined. In 2017, Brian Carroll and Prof McGill authored the best-selling book about Brian's triumphant comeback to powerlifting in Gift of Injury. Most recently (10.3.20) -Brian set the highest squat of all time (regardless of weight class) with 1306 lbs – being the first man to break the 1300lb squat barrier at a bodyweight of 303 lbs.
