19 Jul Quick Rant: Physical Therapists
My Experience!
I’ve observed basic physical therapy treatments commonly prescribed to injured individuals over the last 15 years (2009 was the start for me). It’s very unimpressive, to say the least.
I’ve been through it. I hear the same story from hundreds of clients. In my experience with my back history, but beyond that, most recently for sh*ts and giggles, I went to post-op PT four years ago post-biceps surgery to see if things have changed. They have, but for the worse: more patients in the room, less clinician; more chaos. No assessment, generic prescriptions, and no coaching or cueing with arbitrary metrics. It was a joke. I didn’t go back, and it galvanized my bias, admittedly.
Has Physical Therapy Failed YOU?
If you have found yourself dissatisfied with the medical and physical therapy systems, I strongly recommend familiarizing yourself with both “Back Mechanic” and “Gift of Injury.” These resources provide valuable insights into identifying supportive healthcare professionals and managing your injury while actively participating in your recovery process.
For those who haven’t yet watched my recent video titled “3 Mistakes I Commonly See on the Squat,” I encourage you to do so as it may prevent you from experiencing back injury.
Stay tuned for a more detailed exploration of the challenges within physical therapy, highlighting what to avoid and what to seek, scheduled for next Thursday.
