26 Jul Quick Rant: Core Exercises
Building Off The McGill Big 3
In this rant, I cover my next video topic: 3 Core exercises for strength, back resilience, and athleticism you most likely aren’t doing. Let’s get one thing straight: these exercises are NOT the McGill Big 3, though the Big three are undeniably crucial for back resilience, core strength, and injury prevention. What I’m sharing next week builds on these principles to take your core strength to the next level.
Don't Be This Guy.
Not All “Core” Exercises Are What They Seem To Be.
I’m fed up with seeing fitness influencers on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram push these so-called “life-changing” core exercises that are often just recycled ideas from other REAL lifters, coaches, and pioneers in the industry and not a cult of personality. Just because something looks good on social media doesn’t mean it’s effective or safe. Too many popular core exercises, like the reverse hyper or basic ab crunch, are often touted as the best but can cause more harm than good, leading to back pain and future injuries.
In this upcoming video, I’ll introduce three spine-sparing, core-stiffening exercises that you can incorporate into your routine to build a core of iron without risking your lower back, as discussed in Back Mechanic and Gift of Injury. Don’t miss out—tune in next Thursday to learn more!
