Brian Carroll: Week 5, Day 1 Bench Press

Big thanks to CaptainJacked.com and Inzernet.com for supporting TeamPRS and PowerRackStrength.com!

After 3 months of lack-luster (or lack thereof) training post Arnold, I’m following the offseason Combo template straight out of the 10/20/Life book for the next 10 weeks. The only modifications I’m making is low reps with the squat and deadlift, but normal higher (4/5) reps with bench. I’ll make up the total volume on my assistance work concerning the squat/DL. I have no meet plans in sight.

Got a little behind on my log, so here is some catch up. Byrd is prepping for a meet on Sept 30 in Fort Lauderdale. This meet seems to be shaping up to be a big one. Mindy Underwood is putting some cool things together and our co-brand friend CaptainJacked.com is involved too.

With Byrd prepping for the meet, I worked in his SDP while adhering to the proper protocol, I’m the 3rd person to wear this shirt.

Anyway, this is what Monday was spend doing. First time in the shirt since the meet in March. I do believe 4.5 mo is the longest I’ve been out of all gear for a long time.

Normal Warm-up
A. Band fly/Band shoulder dislocation
B. McGill big 3
C. Goblet squat
D. Empty bar x20

Monday 7.10.17
Goal: break in Byrd’s shirt
Light sets from 400 in 50lb jumps, then finally…
Top set of 600×2 – 2bd
A. Pause bench: 3×5 – 275
B. CG bench: 5×5 – 225
C. Band press-downs SS hammer curl
C. Stir the pot 60

Good training session. Felt good to be back in the shirt but regular offseason training will be back on tap next week. I hope to be on more of a normal schedule soon! The rest of the work post shirt felt good. Bodyweight is sitting at 265, and much less fat. Diet is on point. It really took me a while to get back on track, but it’s nice to be. No meets planned at this time.

Now this. I don’t really think Connor has more than a punchers chance in this fight. He can’t throw kicks or threaten a take down which makes his heavy hands less of a threat along with the larger gloves. With that said, Connor has him truly rattled. I think the fact Money knows that in a real fight, Connor would beat him to death in 20seconds. This is in the back in mind, it appears. I don’t know how much of an impact it could have. We will see.

I will say I’m much more of a fan of Connor than I was. He is hilarious.
