Jason Kowalewski – 2018 Plans / Off-Season Week 8

I recently competed in the RPS Chalk & Iron September 28th where I tied my best total of 1653.4 lbs (squat – 633.8 lbs, bench 435.4 x lbs. deadlift – 584.2 lbs) at a bodyweight of 241.6 lbs vs. 268 lbs.  I’m currently in an off-season with plans for a May meet.

I’ve been working with fellow members of Team Samson to coordinate schedules so I can compete during the first half of the year.  A few years back I made the mistake of an extended offseason (roughly a year) then didn’t have the meet I hoped for / should have had.  It was a rather large blow as I felt that year of training was ‘wasted’.  As we’re constantly learning from our mistakes I’m trying to make it a point to get on the platform sooner than later following meets, assuming my body allows.  With that said I’ll be lifting in Orlando May 26th at the RPS Central Florida PHG Throwdown.  Assuming that meet goes well I’ll go into a geared offseason and look for an equipped full power meet in the fall.  If May doesn’t go as I hope I’ll jump right back into prep (again, assuming my body allows) and give it another go in July then transition to gear.  I’ve got some goals in mind that I’m not ready to put in writing yet.

Now onto the fun stuff..  Training has been going really well this off-season.  I’m coming off a deload into the final two week push.  I’ll be working up to heavy doubles this week then singles next week.  All squat work has been done in sleeves thus far and it’ll stay that way.

Jason Kowalewski is an up and coming raw powerlifter residing in Jacksonville, Florida where he trains with Team Samson. Jason began training under Brian’s tutelage in February 2013. He was actually one of the initial test subjects, hence the name Lab Rat. Since then he has seen significant improvements on all lifts with his commitment to Brian and the 10/20/Life methodology.
