I just got a rage x single ply bench shirt like Dain suggested. This is going to be my first time using a bench shirt so, I was wondering what would be the best way to break the shirt in? also, when I bench raw I bench fairly close my pinkies are about 2 to 2.5 inches inside the rigs. I noticed that most people bench wider in bench shirts should I move my grip out?
Mike,
Send some videos in for context. Hard to say anything without seeing it. Just start another thread, you wont be able to reply it here.
But…
The rage doesn’t require the care that SDP so you can break it in with boards pretty quickly without much harm to the shirt.
But generally speaking, your grip will need to be much wider in the shirt, especially with your super-close grip.
Mike,
As Brian mentioned, the Rage X is easier to break in than the SDP, however given your situation, I would break it in exactly the same way as we recommend breaking in the SDP.
Not because the shirt needs it, but because you do!
Here’s what I would do.
Breaking in a shirt SUCKS. Learning a shirt SUCKS. You will probably feel like your bones are going to explode at some point in the process.
Again, the Rage X doesn’t take this much to break in typically, however since you are new to it this is what I would do. This way you get to learn slowly over the course of several weeks. Each board height will be more and more challenging.
