Team Samson Powerlifting – Back in the saddle again! 1/16-1/22

Adam Driggers is keeping his retirement casual by still out-lifting active lifters on occasion. Channing Doyle is currently in meet prep mode for the raw portion of the Arnold. Shane Ford is recovering from a back injury, while trying to be less fat.

With training for the Arnold in full swing, the intensity in the gym has cranked up as well. This is the biggest meet of the year for the team, and it’s an all hands on deck affair. Along with Brian and Byrd’s training, the rest of the team’s training seems to follow suit, and gets heavier by the week.

Adam Driggers

This week, Adam strapped into one of the new Inzer Leviathan Pro squat suits. This was his second time training in a suit in the past two years. Retirement be damned, the guy still has it. Top set of 825 lbs.

Continuing with the equipment trend, Adam jumped into one of Brian’s Inzer SDP bench shirts, to assist with the break in procedure. Worked in at 405 lbs, with a top set of 675 lbs.

Channing Doyle

Channing is a newcomer to Team Samson. He is also training for the raw portion of the Arnold. He is looking to improve on his best lifts of 650 lbs squat, 408 lbs bench, and 700 lbs deadlift.

Channing hit a good single this week. Considering his biggest meet squat is 650 lbs, he makes this 665 lbs look easy

Shane Ford

After sustaining a back injury in October at the RPS South Florida Conquest meet, he is now at the point he can start working with lighter weights, headed into an offseason.

This was all about sets and reps. Byrd is having Shane work in eight sets and moderate reps to get volume in. Top set, 405 lbs for five reps.

The same thing will apply to Shane’s bench for the time being. Eight sets of five with 185 lbs.
