For a beginner in gear which shirt would be better?
It’s going to depend on how your built and level of experience but one thing about the Super Duper Phenom – it’s been proven to be EASILY effective for beginners and the biggest benchers in the world.
It’s highly adjustable – this is the biggest factor.
The Rage-X is a great shirt but typically will be harder to touch in, but has great stopping power.

Both are great shirts, huge benches have been done in both!
This is just my experience- the SDP was easier for me to learn. I’ve worn both and struggled with the Rage X. It’s stiffer and the groove is different, which made it harder for me to touch.
The SDP however, I was able to get in and bench without much trouble. The groove of the SDP is pretty forgiving. I was able to work my way down boards and touch reliably without too many mishaps.
Again, both are good. The SDP was easier for me to learn, so if you have to pick, my choice would be the SDP.
In my opinion they’re both great shirts. I think it’s harder to touch in a Rage X than it is to touch in an SDP. The Rage X seems to offer more lockout support, but the SDP offers superior support off the chest. For those reasons, I would recommend an SDP to a beginner. It’s much easier to learn how to use in my experience.
