I hit a 605 DL with Straps Down, Strapped up for the first time in over 4 months. Failed a 655… Broke the Floor (slow), but about 1in below knee was all I got. Grip held fine. Sumo pull….I deload this coming week and start my pre-contest the next. I’ve read the Book, but a little torn in what accessory to choose for Equip. pre-contest and where I failed. Not to experienced in gear. Do I do some Deficit pulls or should I work on 2-4in Block pulls? Do I need to pull more Conv…? My last equip. Meet was Nov. I pulled 650. I pulled 673 but was called on a soft knee lockout.
Personally, I am a big fan of form pulls. I think in your case, form pulls in full equipment to really dial in your set up will be essential. Plus, you’re new to gear, so learning how to use it optimally will be invaluable. As far as heavier work, you could cycle in some block pulls directly at that missing point. Keep RPE in check with the 10/20 pre-contest template.
