20 Jul Training Log: 7/19/2025
Locked In with a Solid Crew
Training has been moving in the right direction lately. I’ve got a good group around me, and we’re building momentum session by session. There’s something about having the right people in your corner that makes showing up and pushing hard feel automatic. Right now, I’m in a groove, and that consistency is paying off.
A Trip North to See Dr. McGill
I just wrapped up a four-day visit to see Dr. Stuart McGill up in Ontario. Anytime I get to work with Stu, it’s a productive trip. We covered a lot while I was there: refining movement, dialing in technique, and checking on where my body’s at heading into this next chapter. I ran through squats and box squats, then moved into floor presses. After a few heavier sets, I chased it with high-rep volume work on the same lift, then closed things out with core training. You can see a scenic shot of me doing bird dogs from the trip over on my Instagram (BrianCarroll1306) — proof that Stu keeps me honest!
Foundational Work and the SquatMax-MD
Earlier in the week, I stayed focused on the basics. A bit of core, some pressing, and time on the SquatMax-MD doing belt squats — not a ton of volume, but it all added up. At this stage, I’m more focused on precision and quality over empty intensity. I’m not chasing numbers for the sake of it. I’m chasing efficiency, health, and performance longevity.
Countdown to 44
With my 44th birthday coming up on July 31st, my goal is simple: stay healthy, strong, and in good shape across the board. I’m not just training to move weight — I’m training to move well, feel good, and be able to help more lifters who walk through the clinic doors here at PowerRackStrength.com. The better I feel, the more I can give.
More Training Logs on the Way
I know I’ve been a little inconsistent with updates lately — that’s on me. Life gets busy, but I’m committed to doing a better job logging sessions and sharing the process. Whether you’re a lifter, coach, or just someone who wants to train smarter, I hope these updates give some insight into how I approach the process, especially now, as I continue to adapt and evolve the way I train.
Thanks for following along — and stay tuned for more.
