26 Oct Team Samson Powerlifting – Brian Gets Us Wet
The gym has been busier this week with Jason returning from his world travels and a new guy that we’ll call Slim joining us. Everyone is in offseason mode but with a different emphasis. Some of us are breaking in gear, some are healing and some are just getting better. All are using 10/20/Life principles.
Saturday was a great session. Two mono-lifts were running with one group using a buffalo bar and one using a safety squat bar. Brian, Clint and Felipe used the SSB for doubles. Adam, Shane, Slim and I used the buffalo bar. I’m still breaking in 2-ply Inzer Predator briefs and worked up to 595 for a double. The rest of the group worked raw triples. Accessory work for most everyone included belt squats, 1 leg good mornings, suitcase or bottoms-up kb carries and stir the pot.
Monday saw Jason return for light squats and pulls while Brian made me, Clint and Slim get wet. Our session started with floor presses for doubles. These are done outside and they started off safe enough. When we got three plates on the bar, it started to drizzle. When we added the 25’s, it opened up. We finished without incident, but it’s probably the first time any of us have benched with rain in our eyes. Adam, Felipe and Shane stayed dry and worked inside. Brian and I are breaking in Inzer SDP shirts and we hit doubles next. I completely spaced and got no video of the bench session. After main lifts, DB inclines, grenade skull crushers and other tricep movements were done.
It was a great week with a lot of energy in the gym. Even the rain was welcome because it is finally cooling off in North Florida.
