24 Mar Team Samson Powerlifting- The Days of Our Lives. 3/19-3/23 Training
[wa-wps]Adam Driggers is keeping his retirement casual by still out-lifting active lifters on occasion. Shane Ford is bouncing between work, life and training, trying to find a meet. Filipe Gusmao is gearing up for his first meet since surgery to repair a torn triceps.
With the Arnold having passed, some of the team is looking forward to other meets. Brian is working towards the RPS U.S. Open hosted by Gracie V., and Jason, Filipe and possibly Brian will be doing the RPS Redemption meet hosted by Bert and Mindy Underwood.
Driggers sightings have been rare these days, but he is expanding his business by 100%. Yes, that’s twice the room that he previously had at Alpha School of Massage. It was a monumental undertaking for he and his family, but this is establishing his legacy, and he has worked incredibly hard for it. If you are in the Jacksonville, Florida area give a phone call to 904-389-9117, or check out Alpha School of Massage.
All that aside, video time!!!!
Filipe Gusmao – This will be Filipe’s first meet back, since triceps reattachment surgery. He is taking a different approach, benching twice a week, separating his competition bench from his acessory work.
Squat- Filipe hit a pretty big number here, considering he hasn’t squatted very heavy since his injury. 495×3

Bench- Again, considering he tore his triceps in October, benching like this is pretty significant. Close grip 275x3x3

Deadlift- Worked up in triples off of 4 inch blocks, top set 455 lbs.

Shane Ford- Shane has been in the gym pretty quietly. It’s spring time in Florida, and that’s when his job cranks up into full swing. He comes in on his lunch frequently and gets his work in and makes sure the other guys do as well.
Squat- Deloading on the squat this week, Shane worked some pause squats. 325x3x3
Bench- Shane’s bench sucks. It’s getting better, but still sucks. We are finding that working in moderately heavy with a bit of volume is working well for the guy.
Deadlift- This may be the 4th or 5th time he has deadlifted since his back injury in October. Obviously displeased, this is a good set considering the frequency of his deadlifting.
