19 May Team Samson Powerlifting- Bring out the chains! Squat training 5/15
[wa-wps]Adam Driggers is keeping his retirement casual by still out-lifting active lifters on occasion. Shane Ford is bouncing between work, life and training, trying to find a meet. Filipe Gusmao is gearing up for his first meet since surgery to repair a torn triceps.

Prior to warming up, it was decided we would squat with chains today to work the top end of the squat. Adam worked up in 50 lbs increments from 235, all the way to 375 lbs, plus 160 lbs in chain for a nice, easy double.
Filipe Gusmao
Filipe is only a few weeks out of the RPS Redemption meet in fort Meyers, and this was the week to push it a little for him. His big asets were 605, for a 5 lbs PR, and 640 lbs with a reverse band, for a 10 lbs PR. It’s looking to be a good meet for Filipe if he keeps his head out of his ass.

When in Rome… It’s been quite a long time since I’ve done any chain work. So, instead of being inconvenient as hell, and remove the chains for my sets, I joined right in. It’s nice to get work in like this to break up the monotony of comp squatting, benching and deadlifting. I worked up to a light. 325 lbs plus 160 lbs in chain for 3 sets of doubles.
