25 May Team Samson Powerlifting- Squat 5/21
[wa-wps]
Adam Driggers is keeping his retirement casual by still out-lifting active lifters on occasion. Shane Ford is bouncing between work, life and training, trying to find a meet. Filipe Gusmao is gearing up for his first meet since surgery to repair a torn triceps.
Here we are. 7 days out from The RPS Redemption meet. It’s going to be a good meet for all of the guys going. As one meet prep ends, it feels like 2 or 3 more begin. We have Jon about 7 weeks out entering bench only at the Europa in Charlotte, North Carolina, and 3 or 4 more guys with meet plans on the horizon. There generally isn’t much time that goes by at the gym that meet prep isn’t underway in some shape.
Adam Driggers
Adam decided to keep it pretty light this week, to work on some core stability with some beltless work. He worked up to 325 lbs for 3 sets of beltless squats.
Shane Ford
I was instructed to go to a double at 7-8 RPE this week. I get pretty excited about getting into triples, doubles, and singles. It shows the improvement that you’ve made throughout your training cycle, without putting you at a max effort attempt. This week my top set was 560lbs for 2. As soon as I unracked the weight, I pitched pretty hard forward, and didn’t make my set any easier. With that being said, the reps still moved pretty quick and i’m pleased with how my offseason had gone under Jon’s tutelage.
